PLANNING FOR TEACHING

 

         These are the steps that teachers in SMP Labschool UPI do in planning for teaching. First, teachers consider the syllabus in having the lesson. Every objectives that the teachers made must anchored to the syllabus. Second, study the lesson. The teachers does not only depend on the textbook but they also have some research for the topic so that they are ready for the questions of the students. Third, create engaging activities, it should be 5-8 activities so that the students would not get bored. Fourth, consider the indicators of the topic. Fifth, think the materials that are needed for the discussion which is convenient and the students can relate on it. Sixth, create the lesson plan which is anchored to the mandated of the government and centered on the holistic growth of every learner. Lastly, submit to the head the things that you've prepared beforehand.

PREPARING LESSONS

AND MATERIALS 

​

       In SMP Labschool UPI, the teachers prepare their lessons and materials, as follows: First, they look into the  curriculum guide or their syllabus in order to find the topic that suitable for the period of time. Second, they would choose a resource book that relevant to the topic. Third, teachers would think interesting activities that would catch the attention of the students. Fourth, they modify the learning techniques specially if it doesn't suit to the learners. Fifth, teachers would arrange the learning stages so that they have a guide. Sixth the use of learning media. They would prepare it beforehand and try it so that it would not  consume the time. Most importantly is the assessment where they would assess the students' understanding on the lesson.

TEACHING IN CLASS 

       

   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

         

     Every Monday, SMP Labschool UPI will have their flag ceremony at exactly 7:00 a.m. in the morning at their gymnasium. After the flag ceremony, the students will proceed to their respective rooms and the class will start. The class in the SMP Labschool UPI went smooth because of the transition in every subject. There is a ring of bell every 1 hour and 30 minutes if it is already time and for their snacks. The use of the bell serve as a transition, for the students and teachers to know that it is time already.   If it is not Monday, students have the flag ceremony in their classroom together with their adviser. Each section has a schedule where it shows the subject period. The end of the class would be 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION

 

        Through the use of authentic assessments, the teacher can evaluate the students’ performances. The school uses anecdotal records and checklists to assess the learner’s progress and development in the class. Also, there is a criteria in every presentation to avoid biases and favoritism. The evaluation that the teacher had promotes equality among and within the students where they would evaluated based on the performance that they perform in the classroom and not just having it.

OVERALL IMPRESSION TO THE TEACHER PERFORMANCE 

​

         Teachers' performance in teaching was really amazing specially when they are dealing with the diverse students because as we know it is difficult to dwell on the learners' needs and interests. The teachers in the SMP Labschool UPI shows passion in teaching where they really love what they are doing. They establish a good rapport towards to their students. I really learned from them. Knowing that teaching is not an easy task. It requires not just only intellectually ready but holistically.
