TEACHING METHODS

The teaching methods of the SMP Labschool  UPI are Role playing and Group discussion.

Role playing is an act of imitating the character and behaviour of someone who is different from yourself and able to portray it confidently in front of an audience.

Group discussion is a group of individuals with similar interest who gather either formally or informally to bring up ideas in order to come up with a creative work or project depending on what the activity is all about.

LEARNING MATERIALS

AND INNOVATION

The SMP Labschool UPI learning materials and innovation are the books from the government of Indonesia and some International books. Also, students have instructional materials made through their creative minds such as visual aids and provided by the teachers themselves.

SOURCES OF LEARNING

AND TECHNOLOGY

There are three sources of learning and technology that the SMP Labschool UPI uses as follows: Book, Discussion and Electronic media. First, the use of the book for the exercises is evident. The teachers and students use it for their references and a track for their lesson. Second, discussion - the teachers teach the lesson through a lecture for 40 minutes and then proceed with various activities. Lastly, the electronic media - the teachers use electronic media so that the class would be interactive and meaningful. It can get the attention of the students and they will participate.

AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT

The SMP Labschool UPI uses authentic assessment.

According to Richard J. Stiggins performance assessments call upon the examinee to demonstrate specific skills and competencies, that is, to apply the skills and knowledge they have mastered.

An authentic assessment requires the learners to perform a given task. A rubric will be used to evaluate the student’s performance on the given task so that it would avoid biases among the performance of the students.  It is usually use in the SMP Labschool UPI because the teachers want the students to participate and learn something by discovering it on their own.
